Cabling Auto Routing

Create a harness and route cables in Creo from logical data using Cabling Auto Routing.

Cabling Auto Routing creates cable routing automatically from logical data. The Creo command is Cabling Auto Routing. Command help: Create Cable Routing Automatically.

You need a Cabling license and a CadActive server session. This is not Piping AutoRouting. File formats: Cabling Auto Routing Files. Worked jobs: Cabling Auto Routing Examples. Batch: Cabling Command Line (-CADACTIVE=CABLING -ACTION=AUTO_ROUTING) — do not rewrite those flags here.

Open Cabling Auto Routing

  1. Open the equipment assembly that should receive the harness.

  2. In the CadActive ribbon, Cabling group, select Cabling Auto Routing.

The dialog title is Cabling AutoRouting - by CadActive. The header is: Please select the items as directed below:

Create a harness and load logical data

  1. Select Create Harness Asm so CadActive creates the harness assembly in the equipment. On the command line the harness name is always <equipment>_CABLING.

  2. Select Select Input File and pick the logical file. In this dialog the file picker is AutoCAD Electrical XML. Neutral Wire Format and Creo Schematics XML are supported on the command line (and as -INPUT=). See Cabling Auto Routing Files.

  3. Review the tree of routes and components.

Route

  • NewRoute creates routing from the loaded logical data.

  • NewSpool is listed for spool operations (it is not enabled by default in the dialog).

  • ToolsUpdate Skeleton updates the skeleton from routing features.

  • Under Settings:, Route with Path is on by default so routes follow a required path when one exists.

On a tree node you can also AutoRoute Path, Edit Route, Edit Routing Profile, Delete Path, Delete Route, Assemble Component, or Replace Component.

What must already be in the assembly

  • Designated connectors (names matching the logical file, or remapped with the entry-mapping CSV).

  • Entry-port CSYS on those connectors (default ENTRY_PORT).

  • Spools that match the wire/cable names in the logical file, or a spool library Auto Routing can create from.
