Cabling Bridge

Convert an Altium schematic (NET + HTM) into a Creo Cabling Neutral Wire Format file in Creo.

Cabling Bridge converts a cabling schematic into Creo Cabling logical data. The Creo command is Cabling Bridge. Command help: Convert a cabling schematic to Creo Cabling Logical Data.

You need a Cabling license and a CadActive server session. There is no web catalog and no Cabling Bridge command-line action. Formats: Cabling Bridge Files. Worked jobs: Cabling Bridge Examples.

The dialog currently converts Altium only: a .net file plus an .htm file, written as Neutral Wire Format (.nwf). Other software names may appear in Select Software; those converters are not available yet. AutoCAD Electrical XML is an input to Cabling Auto Routing, not this command.

Open Cabling Bridge

  1. In the CadActive ribbon, Cabling group, select Cabling Bridge.

The dialog title is Cabling Bridge - by CadActive. The conversion group is labeled Convert to NWF.

Convert Altium data

  1. Under Select Software, keep Altium.

  2. Next to Select NET File:, choose Select Input File and pick the Altium netlist (.net).

  3. Next to Select HTM File:, choose Select Input File and pick the Altium HTML bill of materials (.htm).

  4. Choose Select Output File and pick where to write the Neutral Wire Format file (.nwf). The save dialog title is Select Output NWF File.

  5. Select CONVERT. Cancel closes without converting.

On success CadActive shows Operation Complete! (title: Cabling Bridge Logical Import). If conversion fails: Oops! Looks like something went wrong... Operation Failed! If you picked a software that is not implemented, the extra line is: Software Bridge not yet supported!

What to do with the NWF file

  • Import it in Creo Cabling as logical data (Creo’s own logical-data import).

  • Use it as -INPUT= on Cabling Command Line AutoRouting, or as the logical file for Auto Routing when you have Neutral Wire Format.

Placing connectors from schematic data is AutoAssemble, not Cabling Bridge. Routing the harness is Cabling Auto Routing.
