Download the Creo Schematics client

Get the CadActive Creo Schematics client package CadActive delivers for your site.

CadActive for Creo Schematics is a Java plugin that Creo Schematics loads in-process. You do not download it from Client Downloads in the web app — that catalog is for CadActive for Creo Parametric only.

CadActive delivers the Creo Schematics client as a separate package for your organization. After you have it, follow Install the Creo Schematics client.

Before you start

  • PTC Creo Schematics is already installed on the workstation. If Schematics itself will not launch, start with PTC Support — that is not a CadActive issue.

  • You know which Creo Schematics version the workstation runs (for example Creo Schematics 11). Ask your CAD admin if you are unsure.

  • A Java 17 or later JRE is installed. Creo Schematics does not ship Java. PTC requires Java 17+ for Creo Schematics 11 and documents setting the PRO_JAVA_COMMAND environment variable to that JRE.

How to get the package

  1. Use the CadActive Creo Schematics package your CAD admin or CadActive contact already gave you.

  2. If you do not have a package, email support@cadactive.com and include your organization name and Creo Schematics version. Do not look for a Schematics row in Organization → Client Downloads — it is not listed there today.

Save the files on the Creo Schematics workstation (or a share your CAD admin deploys from). You need write access later to schematics.psf in the Creo Schematics install, and to the per-user Schematics config folder.

What you get

A typical package includes:

  • The CadActive application — usually a .jar file (for example cadactive-java-1.5.0.jar). A folder of compiled .class files also works; most sites should use the jar CadActive shipped.

  • creo_schematics_shortcuts.dat — Custom Java commands (Log In, Log Out, Import/Export Design Data, and related CadActive actions).

  • creo_schematics_user_customization.ui — the CadActive ribbon tab and button layout.

Your package may also include a creo_schematics_config.dat (or a startup trail) if CadActive asked you to auto-run a command when Schematics starts. If the files you received have different names, use those names in the install steps.

Next: copy the files into place and point Creo Schematics at the jar. See Install the Creo Schematics client.

If something goes wrong

  • You only see Creo Parametric zips in Client Downloads — that is expected. Ask CadActive for the Schematics package.

  • You are not sure which jar or folder to use — email support@cadactive.com rather than pointing Creo at an IDE output folder.
