Publish Geometry

Publish datums, quilts, and geometry groups on the active Creo model with Geometry Publisher.

Publish Geometry is the Creo how-to for Geometry Publisher: tag reusable interfaces on the active library model so Geometry Copier can copy them into skeletons. See Geometry Publisher for what Publisher is and is not.

Open Geometry Publisher

  1. Open the part or assembly you want to publish from. It must be the active model and modifiable (checked out / unlocked).

  2. In the CadActive ribbon, Standardize group, select Geometry Publisher.

The dialog title is Geometry Publisher - by CadActive. The command help is: Publish Geometry from Models. You need a Standardize license, a CadActive server session, and an active model. If the model is not modifiable, CadActive prompts you and OK stays disabled until it is unlocked.

Parts and assemblies are supported. Bulk items are skipped.

Update an out-of-date schema

If the model is behind the current CadActive publisher schema, Geometry Publisher asks:

This model is not up to date with the current CadActive schema.
Updating it would add additional parameters and regroup the publish geom features.
These updates are required for the model to work with the latest Geometry Copier.
Would you like to automatically update the model now?

Choose Yes to add parameters and regroup publish geometry so Copier can use the model. Choose No to open without updating (Copier may not see the latest schema). Family-table members can inherit schema from the generic.

Publish datums and quilts

The Geometry tab is a dual tree:

  • Geometry available to publish: — unpublished items, grouped as Csys, Axes, Planes, Points, Quilts, and Solid Bodies (plus Cable Segments on a harness).

  • Published geometry: — items already published, including Curve Groups, Surface Groups, and Custom.

  1. On the left, select the datums or quilts to publish (categories or individual items).

  2. Click the right arrow between the trees to publish. CadActive creates publish geometry features in the model-tree footer.

  3. To unpublish, select items on the right and click the left arrow. Those publish geometry features are removed from the footer.

OK keeps the changes. Cancel dismisses the dialog.

Publish groups

Curve groups, surface groups, and solid bodies are created from the cascade on the published side (next to Published geometry:). They require Create Publish Geometry Features to be on. If it is off, the group commands are disabled with help text that those types are only supported while using publish geometry features.

New Surface Group

  1. Open the published-side cascade and select New Surface Group.

  2. Ctrl+click the surfaces to include, then complete the selection (middle-click).

  3. When prompted Please enter a desired group name, enter a short name.

New Curve Group

  1. Open the published-side cascade and select New Curve Group.

  2. Select the features or curves to include.

  3. If CadActive can name the group from a single selected feature, it does. Otherwise enter a name at Please enter a desired group name.

Publish Solid Bodies

Select Publish Solid Bodies to publish every solid body on the model as one group named ALL_SOLID_BODIES.

Keep group names short. Creo feature names are limited to 31 characters, and Geometry Copier uses these names when it copies the interface.

Groups appear under Curve Groups, Surface Groups, or Solid Bodies on the published tree and in the model-tree footer.

Harness cabling and Custom

On a harness, Cable Segments and Cable Network Segments appear in the trees. Publish them the same way as datums.

Creo publish geometry that CadActive did not create is listed under Custom on the published tree. Unpublishing a custom item removes that publish geometry feature.

Show Settings

Optionally select Show Settings to reveal Create Publish Geometry Features — the same organization setting as Publisher - Create Publish Geometry Features on Settings for Standardize.

  • On (default): one publish geometry feature per selected item.

  • Off: selected items are grouped into one publish geometry feature. Curve groups, surface groups, and solid bodies are then unavailable.

Fix Publisher Groups

Recreates the type groups in the model-tree footer.

Publisher Schema → Set Publisher Schema

Writes the current CadActive publisher schema onto the model (same outcome as accepting the out-of-date prompt).

Publisher Schema → Delete Publisher Schema

Removes the publisher schema from the model.

Rename Features

Bulk-renames objects in the model. This is the shared rename tool, not a Publisher-only workflow.
