Set Config Profile

Apply an organization config profile in Creo, or upload a local config.pro to create a new profile.

Use Set Config Profile on the CadActive ribbon in Creo Parametric to apply an organization profile to the current session, or to upload a local config.pro as a new profile. Download and Upload are tabs of this one command. You need a Synchronize license.

Admins create and edit profiles in the web app. This page is the Creo side. See Config Profiles for what a profile contains, and Manage Config Profiles for the web editor.

Before you start

  • You are signed in to CadActive in Creo.

  • Your organization has at least one config profile (or you have a local config.pro to upload).

  • Organization admins have reviewed Settings for Synchronize — especially Default Configuration Directory and Auto-Apply CadActive Config Setting.

Download / Set Profile

This is how engineers (and anyone else) pull the assigned environment into the live Creo session.

  1. Open Creo Parametric and go to the CadActive tab.

  2. Select Set Config Profile.

  3. Stay on the Download tab.

  4. Choose a Desired Profile from the organization list.

  5. Select Set Profile.

  6. If CadActive would overwrite an existing config.pro on disk, confirm when prompted.

CadActive then loads the profile options (and associated mapkeys) into the current session. Unless the directory is Session Only, it also writes config.pro.

Where the file is written

Controlled by the organization setting Default Configuration Directory:

Applies options in the current session. Does not write a config.pro file.

Working Directory

Writes config.pro to the Creo working directory (default).

User Home Directory

Writes config.pro to the user home directory.

Installation Directory

Writes config.pro to the Creo install directory. The user must have write access.

When Auto-Apply CadActive Config Setting is true, CadActive injects creotkdat into the written config.pro so CadActive Toolkit apps keep loading.

Set Profile applies the profile to the live session. The command-line download writes config.pro only — it does not apply the profile to a running Creo. See Synchronize Command Line.

Upload

Use this when your organization already has a local config.pro (and mapkeys in that file) and you want it in CadActive. Prefer uploading a large file from Creo, then refining values in the web app.

  1. Open Set Config Profile and switch to the Upload tab.

  2. Open the local config.pro you want to upload.

  3. Review the preview of settings/values and mapkeys CadActive parsed from the file.

  4. Give the profile a unique name, then select Upload.

  5. Use View in Dashboard to continue editing in the web app (you typically land on the profiles list).

Upload creates a new organization profile. It does not overwrite an existing profile from Creo. Config options that CadActive does not recognize in its catalog are skipped. Mapkeys in the file are created in the organization library by keystroke if they are missing.

From the profile control in this dialog you can also rename, archive, or delete profiles (the same records as the web app).

What is not available in this dialog

  • Validate Mapkeys and Mapkey Cheatsheet under Tools are Coming Soon.

  • Creo does not auto-download profile updates when someone edits a profile in the web app. Run Set Profile again to pick up changes.

  • There is no command-line upload.
