Annotation Manager
Tag annotations on a Creo model or drawing for inventory and the Tagged Annotation Report.
Annotation Manager is how Standardize tags existing annotations on the current Creo model or drawing. You add dimensions, notes, GTOLs, symbols, and similar items to a numbered list. CadActive places a balloon symbol next to each tagged item and stores the list on the model. Use that list for inventory and the Tagged Annotation Report.
The Creo command is Annotation Manager. There is no web catalog. Tags live on the CAD model. Organization settings control the balloon symbol, its variable text, and the layer those symbols sit on.
Who does what
Role | Where | What they do |
|---|---|---|
CAD manager | Organization → Settings | Set the tagged-annotation layer name, balloon symbol, and variable-text name. |
Engineer | Creo — Annotation Manager | Tag annotations on the open model or drawing, remove or delete tags, and save a Tagged Annotation Report. |
What tagging does
Each tagged item gets a sequential balloon (default symbol CADACTIVE-BALLOON) on the tagged-annotations layer (default CADACTIVE_TAGGED_ANNOTATIONS). CadActive stores the list on the model so you can reopen Annotation Manager and continue.
You can tag:
Dimensions and reference dimensions
Notes (including notes inside a Note Block)
Geometric tolerances (GTOLs)
Symbols and draft entities
Surface finishes, annotation elements, set-datum tags, and table cells
Add by View, Add by Sheet, Add All, and Add by Note Block require a drawing. Add by Annotation prompts you to select items in the model.
Settings
Organization admins change these under Organization → Settings. Full list: Settings for Standardize (Annotations). These are Annotation Manager settings, not Designator.
Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
Layer Name for Tagged Annotations | Creo layer for balloon symbols. Default is |
Tagged Annotation Symbol Name | Symbol used when tagging. Default is |
Tagged Annotation Variable Text Name | Variable text (vartext) on that symbol that stores the balloon index. Default is |
Reports
The Tagged Annotation Report inventories tagged items. Dedicated report how-tos come later. This is the short version.
Valid on any current model. Default file type is Excel (.xlsx); CSV is accepted. Spreadsheet columns are Item / Char #, Print Zone / Location, Classification, Specification, Lower Limit, Upper Limit, Unit of Measure, Part ID, Variables / Attribute, Observed Results 1, Equipment / Method / Tooling, Comments, and Disposition.
In Annotation Manager, File → Save Report writes the same report. Starting the report from the CadActive report picker requires Standardize. Export also requires the Reporting product. Batch export uses Reporting Command Line with -REPORT="Tagged Annotation Report". Standardize Command Line does not tag annotations.
What is not Annotation Manager
Note Management and Note Builder author and place notes. Annotation Manager tags notes (and other annotations) that already exist — including notes from a Note Block.
Designator names assembly components. It does not balloon drawing annotations.
Geometry Publisher publishes interfaces on library models. It does not tag annotations.
There is no Annotation Manager web page and no Annotation Manager CLI action.
