Note Management

Notes, note contents, Note Profiles, and Note Blocks in Standardize, and how Note Builder places them in Creo.

Note Management is how Standardize defines reusable Creo notes for your organization and groups them so every drawing (or model) gets the same standard text. You author the catalog, placeholders, profiles, and blocks in the web app. Creo places those notes with Note Builder, or creates them when you apply a Model Template.

Four records work together:

Notes are catalog entries: name, type, and note body. A Note by itself does not land on a drawing.
Note contents are typed placeholders inside a note body (text, number, list, date, or a Creo parameter). Engineers fill them in Note Builder.
Note Profiles are named templates of Note Blocks. You attach one profile to a Model Template.
Note Blocks are sections inside a profile: an ordered list of Notes plus a Creo feature name (or a table cell) to write into.

Who does what

How notes attach to Model Templates

A Model Template has one Note Profile slot (parts, assemblies, and drawings). Apply Model Template creates the profile’s Note Blocks on the model. Note Builder uses the same slot: choose the template, then choose a block from that profile.

Apply vs Note Builder

Apply Model Templates creates missing note features from the template’s profile. Unattended apply uses Standardize Command Line with -INCLUDE=NOTES or -ACTION=NOTES_CREATE.
Note Builder is the interactive path: fill note contents, reorder optional notes, and place (or replace) the block in Creo.

Settings that affect notes

Organization admins change these under Organization → Settings. Full list: Settings for Standardize.

Setting	What it does
Force Notes To Be Created As Uppercase	Uppercase, Lowercase, or Original. Default is Uppercase. Note Builder can change this in-session.
Add Empty Line Between Notes	When true (default), a blank line is inserted between notes in a block.
Note Number Alignment / Delimiter / Padding / Leading Zeroes	How numbered prefixes look (for example `1.` vs zero-padded indexes).
Flag Note Symbol Name	Creo symbol used for flag notes. Default is `CADACTIVE_TRI_FLAG`.

What is not Note Management

Designator names components. It is a separate Standardize tool. “Only Designated Components” in Add Notes to Components filters by designation; it does not author notes.
Annotation Manager tags existing annotations (including notes from a Note Block). It does not author catalog Notes.
Ecad Area Note type is for ECAD area annotation, not for Note Builder or Note Profile blocks.
Geometry Publisher is a separate Standardize tool. It does not author notes.
