Creating Note Blocks

Create Note Blocks on a Note Profile: feature name, print order, lock, and which catalog Notes belong in each section.

A Note Block is a section inside a Note Profile: an ordered list of catalog Notes plus the Creo feature (or drawing table cell) to write into. You author blocks on the profile page in the web app. Creo places a block with Note Builder, or creates it when you apply the Model Template that uses this profile.

See Note Management for the overall model. Create catalog Notes (and their note contents) first, then add them here.

Open the profile editor

  1. Sign in to the CadActive web app.

  2. Open Standardize → Model Details → Note Profiles.

  3. Select the profile.

The subtitle shows how many Note Blocks the profile has. An empty profile says Add sections to get started. You need Standardize collaborate permission. Archived profiles are read-only.

Create or edit a Note Block

  1. Create a block (header Create Note Block), or edit an existing card (Edit Note Block ‘…’).

  2. Set Name (required, unique on this profile, 1024 characters or fewer).

  3. Set Feature Name — the Creo note feature to create or replace. Use a short Creo-legal name, or a TABLE(...) formula to write into a drawing table cell (for example TABLE(FIND_BY_DIMENSION[1,5], 1, 3)). Feature Name is the Creo target, not a full search language. Letters, numbers, underscore, parentheses, brackets, comma, period, and space are allowed (256 characters or fewer).

  4. Set Print Order:

    1. Default — top to bottom, as shown.

    2. Reverse — bottom to top.

  5. Save.

Each block card shows the name and feature name, with lock, edit, and delete. An empty card says Add Notes Below.

Lock a block

Use the lock control on the card. A locked block cannot add, reorder, or remove notes on the web or in Note Builder. Unlock to edit membership again.

Add Notes to a block

  1. On the block, set Prefix (default #) and choose a Note. Notes already in this block do not appear in the list. Prefer General Note catalog rows for drawing annotations.

  2. Add the row. Drag the handle to reorder (unlocked blocks only).

  3. On a row you can:

    1. Toggle flag — the note uses the organization Flag Note Symbol Name (default CADACTIVE_TRI_FLAG). See Settings for Standardize.

    2. Toggle optional — optional notes sit aside in Note Builder until the engineer adds them. Required notes fill the ordered table.

    3. Remove the row from this block. The catalog Note remains.

Prefix # numbers the note automatically. Any other prefix prints as literal text in front of the note.

Delete a block

Delete on the card permanently removes that block from the profile. Catalog Notes are not deleted.
