Note Builder

Note Builder is the interactive Creo path for Standardize notes: pick a Model Template and Note Block, fill placeholders, and place (or replace) the block as an annotation or table cell. Use Apply Model Templates when you want the template’s Note Profile created unattended.

Open Note Builder

1. Open the model (typically a drawing).

2. In the CadActive ribbon, Standardize group, select Note Builder.

The dialog title is Note Builder - by CadActive. The command help is: Build standard notes from the Notes database. You need a Standardize license, a CadActive server session, and a model that is modifiable.

Note Builder hides Component Note and Ecad Area Note catalog types. Use General Notes in profile blocks. Component notes use Add Notes to Components (below).

Place a Note Block

1. Choose Model Template: — CadActive loads that template’s Note Profile.

2. Choose Note block: — required notes fill the ordered table. Optional notes stay aside until you add them. Locked blocks cannot add, reorder, or remove notes in-session. Use the up/down arrows to reorder when the block allows it.

3. Fill Note Content placeholders (text, number, list, date, or parameter). See Note Contents.

4. Optionally select Show Settings:

   1. Force Note Uppercase

   2. Start Number:

   3. Add Newline Between Notes

5. Use the Place cascade:

   1. Create As Annotation — place a new note, or replace text if a DetailNote with that Feature Name already exists.

   2. Place in Table Cell — write into a drawing table cell. If Feature Name is a TABLE(...) formula, CadActive uses that cell.

6. Apply writes the block. Close dismisses the dialog.

Changing Show Settings writes those values back to the organization note settings. The full list is on Settings for Standardize.

Add Notes to Components

Leader notes on drawing components are a separate command. It does not use Note Profile blocks.

Open it from:

• CadActive ribbon, Standardize group → Add Notes to Components

• Note Builder → Tools → Add Notes to Components (or Add Note to Single Component)

The dialog title is Add Note to Components - by CadActive. A current drawing is required.

1. Follow the header: select a desired view, then the desired note and items.

2. Set Desired View: and Select View.

3. Set Filter Items:

   1. All Components (Master Rep)

   2. Components In View (by SimpRep)

   3. Only Designated Components (default) — this filter uses designation on the model. It is not the Designator how-to.

4. Set Desired Note: — the list defaults to component notes (name or description containing “COMPONENT”). Check Show All Notes to widen it.

5. Multi-select items, then OK. CadActive places leader notes at each component CSYS.

Replacement tokens

Note bodies can include tokens that Creo replaces when the note is placed. Type them in the note body as shown. These are not note contents.

Additional tokens exist for Ecad Area Notes. Do not use Designator to author note text.

Apply vs Note Builder vs CLI

• Apply Model Templates creates missing note features from the template’s profile.

• Note Builder is interactive place and edit. Author the catalog and blocks in the web app first — Notes, Note Contents, Note Profiles, and Creating Note Blocks.

• Unattended apply uses Standardize Command Line with -INCLUDE=NOTES or -ACTION=NOTES_CREATE, and optional -NOTE= to filter by name. There is no Note Builder CLI.

• To balloon notes that are already on the drawing (including notes from a Note Block), use Annotation Manager → Add by Note Block. That tags existing annotations; it does not place notes.
