Tag Annotations
Tag annotations on the active Creo model or drawing with Annotation Manager, including notes from a Note Block, and save a Tagged Annotation Report.
Annotation Manager is the Creo how-to for tagging existing annotations: add items to a numbered balloon list, remove or delete tags, and save a Tagged Annotation Report. See Annotation Manager for settings, report columns, and what tagging is not.
Open Annotation Manager
Open the model or drawing you want to tag. It must be the active model and modifiable (checked out / unlocked).
In the CadActive ribbon, Standardize group, select Annotation Manager.
The dialog title is Annotation Manager - by CadActive. The command help is: Manage Annotations in Models and Drawings. You need a Standardize license, a CadActive server session, and a model that is open. If the model is not modifiable, CadActive prompts you before the dialog opens.
Footer Save writes tagged annotations to the model and closes. Close dismisses the dialog. Tags are also saved as you add them.
Read the table
Each row is one tagged annotation. Columns:
Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
(lock) | A lock icon when the item was tagged in a previous revision (not the current model revision). |
# | Balloon number. |
Type | Annotation type (for example a note or dimension). |
Name | Creo name of the annotation. |
Revision | Model revision when the item was tagged. |
ID | Creo model-item id. |
Value | Annotation value (specification). |
Lower Limit | Lower limit, when the annotation has one. |
Upper Limit | Upper limit, when the annotation has one. |
Add tagged annotations
Use the Add Annotations cascade (help text: Add Tagged Annotations).
Command | What it does |
|---|---|
Add by Annotation | Prompt: Select annotations in the model. Multi-select dimensions, notes, GTOLs, symbols, draft entities, surface finishes, annotation elements, and table cells, then CadActive tags each selection. |
Add by Note Block | Requires a drawing. Select a note, then the dialog Select Notes from Note Block (Select the notes to tag from the note block:). Check the notes to balloon. Help text: Add Notes within a Note Block. |
Add by View | Requires a drawing. Prompt: Select a drawing view in the model. Tags annotations in that view. Help text: Add all items by selecting a desired Drawing View. |
Add by Sheet | Requires a drawing. Tags annotations on the current sheet. Help text: Add all items in the current sheet. |
Add All | Requires a drawing. Tags all annotations in the current drawing. Help text: Add All Annotations in the current model/drawing. |
Each add places a balloon symbol (default CADACTIVE-BALLOON) on the tagged-annotations layer and appends a row. Author Note Blocks in the web app first — Creating Note Blocks — then place them with Note Builder before you tag notes from a block.
Remove or delete a tag
Right-click a table row.
Command | When it is available | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Remove Tag | The item was tagged in a previous revision | Marks the tag as removed. It stays in history for that earlier revision. If the item was tagged in the current revision, use Delete Tag instead. |
Delete Tag | The item was tagged in the current revision | Permanently removes the tag from the list. If the item was tagged in a previous revision, use Remove Tag instead. |
Save a report
File → Save Report exports the Tagged Annotation Report for the current tagged list. If there are no tagged annotations, CadActive does not write a file.
After a successful export, CadActive shows Report Generated Successfully! with the output path and asks: Would you like to view the results?
Report columns and batch export are on Annotation Manager.
