Accessing a Creo Home Use License

How eligible Creo users generate and apply a Home Use license on a home computer.

A Home Use license allows eligible Creo users to license Creo on a computer designated for home use. Home Use licenses are managed separately from your organization's normal Creo license hosts and must first be generated through PTC's licensing tools.

Your organization's available Home Use entitlements will depend on the PTC products and licenses you own.

Retrieving a Home Use License

PTC provides instructions for creating a Home Use host and generating the corresponding license file through the Manage Licensing application.

For the most up-to-date instructions, refer to:

PTC – How to Generate a Home Use License File (CS322608)

Note: Access to Manage Licensing requires the appropriate licensing permissions for your organization's PTC account. If you do not have access, contact your organization's PTC License Administrator.

Using the Home Use License File

Once you have generated and downloaded the Home Use license file, there is no separate Home Use version of the Creo installer.

The downloaded file can be provided to Creo using the normal license-file workflow, just like another locally supplied Creo license file. You can use it while installing Creo or provide it afterward by running Creo Reconfigure.

For a typical Creo Parametric installation, Reconfigure can be found at a path similar to:

C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo <version>\Parametric\bin\reconfigure.exe

Run reconfigure.exe, select Reconfigure existing software, and proceed to the licensing portion of the PTC Installation Assistant where you can provide the downloaded Home Use license file. PTC continues to document Reconfigure as the tool for modifying an existing Creo Parametric installation.

Note: The exact installation path may vary depending on your Creo version and where Creo was installed.

If Creo is already installed, you do not need to reinstall the application simply to apply the Home Use license.
