Finding the HOST ID

Modified on Thu, 21 Jan 2021 at 10:23 AM

HOST ID is a mechanism by PTC to lock a license to a specific machine. The Host ID is actually the physical address, sometimes known as the MAC address, of one of the hardware components of the machine.  Computers often have several physical addresses associated with various hardware components.

Creo

  1. If you have Creo installed, the HOST ID is located in the left-hand side of the "Licenses" window in the reconfigure.exe window (shown below), see more info on how to reconfigure (here).
  2. If you are installing Creo, the HOST ID is located in the left-hand side of the "Licenses" window of the install window.

IT Method

The easiest way to find it reliably is to go to Control Panel->Network and Internet->Network and Sharing Center. Then click on the connections on the right hand side (shown below). This connection will be an ethernet one if you are connected to the internet via an ethernet and not WiFi.

From there select Details and it will be the Physical Address (shown below). This format is ##-##-##-##-##-##
