Equipment Manager

How cabling equipment assemblies are used with Auto Routing — distinct from Piping hardware.

Equipment Manager is the Cabling ribbon command for cabling equipment assemblies. Command help: Import and Validate Cabling Equipment.

You need a Cabling license and a model open. The ribbon command is registered, but it does not open a manager dialog today. This is not Piping Hardware Manager (bolts, nuts, gaskets).

What an equipment assembly is

In Cabling, the equipment assembly is the Creo assembly that holds connectors, other electrical components, and (after Auto Routing) the harness. Auto Routing and the command line treat this as the model you route:

  • GUI: open the equipment assembly, then Cabling Auto RoutingCreate Harness Asm.

  • Command line: -MODEL=EQUIP-01.asm (first model only). The harness is always named EQUIP-01_CABLING. See Cabling Command Line.

How to prepare equipment

  • Build or assemble the equipment in Creo (or with AutoAssemble from a spreadsheet or schematic file).

  • Designate connectors so names match the logical file. See Designator.

  • Put entry-port CSYS on connector parts (default name ENTRY_PORT). See Connector Manager.

  • Keep locating CSYS in a skeleton if AutoAssemble will mate connectors onto published geometry. Geometry Copier can copy those interfaces into the skeleton; it does not assemble connectors.
