Cabling Catalogs

Create and maintain Cabling catalogs in the CadActive web app — name, description, unit system, and default catalog.

A Cabling catalog is the named catalog record for your organization. It stores the catalog name, description, unit system, and which catalog is the default. Spool records live on Cabling Spools. Creo commands that create live spools and bulk items stay on the Cabling ribbon.

You need a Cabling license. Collaborators and admins can create and edit catalogs. Other roles see View Only on the row.

Catalogs vs spools vs Creo

Record

What it stores

Catalog

Cabling → Catalogs

Organization catalog: name, description, unit system, default flag.

Spool

Cabling → Spools

Named spool records (name and description) used with cabling designs.

Live Creo spool / bulk item

Creo — Spool Bulk Items From Folder or From Catalog

Creo spool features (and, on Creo 12, native spool bulk parts) created from .spl files or a Creo Schematics catalog.

CadActive does not replace Creo Cabling. The web catalog is the organization record Creo seats sync against. Creating a catalog in the web app does not by itself write spool features into a harness.

Open Catalogs

  1. Sign in to the CadActive web app.

  2. In the left navigation, open Cabling.

  3. Under Catalogs, select Catalogs.

The header shows how many catalogs you have, for example: Showing 1 Catalog Total. If none exist, the table shows: No catalogs found.

Columns:

  • Default — a star marks the default catalog for the organization.

  • Name — unnamed rows show (Unnamed Catalog).

  • Description

  • Unit System — the assigned unit system, or -- if none is set.

You can filter Name and Description from the column menus.

Create a catalog

  1. Select the create control. The dialog title is Create Catalog.

  2. Enter Name (required). Optionally enter Description and choose a Unit System.

  3. Select Save, or Cancel.

Names may use letters, numbers, spaces, periods, underscores, and hyphens, up to 31 characters.

Edit a catalog

  1. Select the edit control on a row. The dialog title is Edit 'name'.

  2. Change Name (required), optional Description, and optional Unit System.

  3. Select Save, or Cancel.

note

The Default star on the table is display-only on this page. It does not include a delete control on the edit dialog. Contact your CadActive admin if you need a catalog removed or the default changed.
