Cabling Design Manager

Review a cabling assembly tree, export it, generate cabling bulk items, and compare logical data in Creo.

Design Manager is the Cabling command that converts a cabling assembly so it includes proper BOM details. The ribbon label is Design Manager. Command help: Convert the cabling assembly to include proper BOM details.

You need a Cabling license, a CadActive server session, and a model open in Creo. This is not Piping Design Manager. Organization bulk-item settings are on Settings for Cabling.

Open Design Manager

  1. Open the cabling assembly (or drawing of that assembly) you want to review.

  2. In the CadActive ribbon, Cabling group, select Design Manager.

The dialog title is Cabling Design Manager - by CadActive.

Runs the Compare Logical Data report against schematic XML. Same report as Generate a Report.

Generate Cabling Bulk Items

Creates cabling bulk items using Spool Bulk Item Method (Per Cable, Per Spool, or Disabled).

Add Balloons / Move Balloons / Update Balloons / Delete Balloons

Drawing balloon operations on the selected tree items. Also Delete All Balloons With This Index and Delete All Balloons.

Pair BOM Item

Pairs a BOM line with the selected design item. Extra connector BOM parameters follow Connector BOM Param Item Parameter Names in settings.

Use Show Settings in the footer when you need the in-dialog settings. OK applies; Cancel closes.

Prerequisites

  • Connectors and equipment in the assembly should be designated the same way your logical data names them. See Designator.

  • Spools should exist as Creo spool features (from bulk-item commands or Creo Cabling) so bulk items and reports have something to roll up.

  • Entry-port coordinate systems on connectors should match the organization setting Connector Common Entry Feature Name (default ENTRY_PORT).
