Cabling Spools

Create and maintain Cabling spool records in the CadActive web app — name and description.

Cabling Spools in the web app are named spool records for your organization (name and description). They are not the live Creo spool feature in a harness. Use Creo Spool Bulk Items From Folder or Spool Bulk Items From Catalog when you need Creo to create real spools (and bulk items) from files.

You need a Cabling license. Collaborators and admins can create, edit, and delete spool records.

How bulk items are named and whether CadActive creates one bulk item per spool or per cable is in Settings for Cabling (Spool Bulk Item Method and name formats).

Open Spools

  1. Sign in to the CadActive web app.

  2. In the left navigation, open Cabling.

  3. Under Spools, select Spools.

The header shows how many spool records you have, for example: Showing 1 Spool Total. If none exist, the table shows: No spools found.

Columns: Name and Description. You can filter both from the column menus.

Create a spool

  1. Select the create control. The dialog title is Create Spool.

  2. Enter Name (required) and optional Description.

  3. Select Save, or Cancel.

Names may use letters, numbers, spaces, periods, underscores, and hyphens, up to 31 characters.

Edit or delete a spool

  1. Select the edit control on a row. The dialog title is Edit 'name'.

  2. Change Name or Description, then Save.

  3. To remove the record, use delete on the dialog. The confirmation title is Delete Spool. The warning is: This action will be PERMANENT and CANNOT BE UNDONE.

Deleting a web spool record does not delete Creo spool features already in a harness. Create live Creo spools from files with the bulk-item commands on the Cabling ribbon.
