Piping Model Builder

Create a new pipe or hose assembly in Creo from the active piping project and spec.

Piping Model Builder is File → New for a pipe or hose assembly: it creates the pipeline model from the active spec project, size, schedule, and optional insulation. Command help: Create a new Pipe or Hose Assemblies.

It is not Standardize Model Builder. That command creates a part, assembly, or drawing from a model template. This command creates a piping assembly.

You need a Piping license. The current model must be an assembly. Activate a spec project first with Select Piping Project.

Open Piping Model Builder

  1. Open (or create) an assembly in Creo.

  2. On the CadActive ribbon, select Piping Model Builder.

Create a pipe or hose assembly

  1. Confirm Current project matches the spec project you activated.

  2. Leave spec-driven piping checked unless your organization allows user-driven piping. When Force Users to Spec-Driven Piping is on, the checkbox is locked.

  3. Set spec, size, schedule, and material (grade).

  4. Optionally enable insulation and pick an insulation instance.

  5. For hose, set the linestock as flexible and select a linestock.

  6. Type the desired model name.

  7. Optionally pick From and To coordinate systems and end fittings so the new pipeline already has ports and ends.

  8. Select OK.

Optional fittings at each end (select from spec or browse).
