Piping Specs and Projects
Define piping specs and projects in the web app, then activate a project in Creo.
A piping spec is the approved combination of pipes and fittings for a line class. A project groups the specs a designer is allowed to use. Author both in the CadActive web app; activate a project in Creo with Select Piping Project.
You need a Piping license and Admin or Collaborator access. Build Core Elements and catalog families first so specs have something to pick.
Open Specs
Sign in to the CadActive web app.
Open Piping → Specs.
The Specs group has three lists:
Page | What it is |
|---|---|
Insulation Specs | Insulation combinations a piping spec can default to. |
Piping Specs | Line-class specs: mnemonic, appearance, default insulation spec, and the pipe and fitting instances they allow. |
Projects | Named collections of piping specs. Creo activates one project at a time. |
Create or edit a piping spec
Open Piping Specs.
Create a spec or open an existing row.
Set name, mnemonic, appearance, and optional default insulation spec.
On the spec, assign pipe instances and fitting instances from the catalog. Only assigned items are valid when that spec is active in Creo.
Save. You can copy a spec to start a variant, or archive one you no longer want in new work.
Deletion is blocked while a spec still belongs to a project. Remove it from projects first.
Create or edit a project
Open Projects.
Create a project or open an existing row.
Give it a name and attach the piping specs this project is allowed to use.
Save. You can copy, archive, or delete projects the same way as specs.
Use the project in Creo
Run Sync Piping Catalog so spec-project files are on disk (download spec projects, or download all).
Run Select Piping Project and pick the project.
Confirm the same project in Piping Catalog Explorer on the Projects & Specs tab, and in Piping Model Builder (current project field).
CadActive can force spec-driven piping for the session. That organization setting is on Settings for Piping.
